Park: English Garden
Ever been or seen surfing on a river before?? The Eisbach attracts adventure seekers from all over the world every year and the best place to watch the action is the English Garden next to the Haus der Kunst. Grab a coffee, take a break and watch this truly eclectic sight. And don’t worry, you can’t miss it! Surfers invariably hit the Eisbach all year round!
Park: Fräulein Grüneis
Since you’ve already been inspired to explore the beautiful English Garden, you'll no doubt need a break from all that walking. So duck in to Fräulein Grüneis. This hidden oasis is one of those secret hideaways off the tourist map. An absolute insider tip! And a place with a fascinating history – just ask one of the employees - and tell them I sent you!
Opening Hours
- Monday - Friday 8.00am - until dusk
- Saturday - Sunday 10.00am - until dusk
Lunch: IUNU Kochwerkstatt
One step inside IUNU and you’ll know why this is one of my favorite lunch spots in all of Munich. Everything here is made with LOVE and feels just like home. And if you can’t choose, I’d recommend the IUNU plate: a tasting of 7 delicious vegetarian dishes which change weekly.
Opening Hours
- Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm
Street art: Donnersberger Brücke
My boyfriend, Valentin lives right nextdoor to the Donnersberger Brücke, the busiest bridge in all of Europe. Seen from above, it may not strike you as the most remarkable bridge imaginable. But if you make the walk from Arnulfstraße to the S-bahn station right underneath the bridge, you’ll find one of those spots that makes this city unique. The colorful parking lot has namely become something of a playground for graffiti artists. And it attracts talent from all over the world. A great place if you’re looking for inspiration.
Shop: PICKnWEIGHT
Into vintage fashion? At PICKnWEIGH you can get it by the kilo! Definitely one of my favorite stores in Munich. Every time I come here I find real gems – carefully selected but still very affordable. And that goes for the lederhosen, as well!
Opening Hours
- Monday - Saturday 10.00am - 8.00pm
Snack: Erbil’s
Walk straight into Erbil’s and look for a man with a hat and a big smile on his face. That will be Erbil, the man himself! I discovered this vegan Döner 5 years ago and it was love at first sight! My favorite: vegan dürum with ginger and turmeric sauce. Yummy!!
Food Market: Viktualienmarkt
Looking for the full Munich experience? Go check out Viktualienmarkt: a tranditional market for fresh food, “delicatessen” and flowers. It’s a great place to soak up the sun and a bit of the local culture at the same time.
Dinner: Bodhi
Like all kids who grew up in Bavaria, I used to love heavy food like spätzle, knödel, schnitzel and all of that. And even though I’m now vegan, I can still relive these childhood delights all thanks to Bodhi! A traditional Bavarian pub that caters to vegetarians/vegans as well!
Opening Hours
- Monday - Saturday 5.00pm - 00.00pm
- Sunday 10.00am - 3.00pm

Bar: Bahnwärter Thiel
I can’t think of a better way to cap off the evening than my favorite bar/club: the Bahnwärter Thiel. The bar is housed in an old converted train carriage – I know, how cool is that?! – and the club moves between its location opposite the HFF (Film/Television University) in summer and the old stockyard (Gabelsbergerstraße 35, 80333 Munich) in winter. Atypical for Munich, which is what makes it so typical of Munich! Come and enjoy a cold beer with an unforgettable atmosphere.
