Hotel: Ace Hotel

100 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JQ, London

Galleries, theatres, design studios on the one hand. Bars, clubs, restaurants on the other. Shoreditch is without a doubt my favorite part of London town. With all the goods to attract all kinds of creative types from experimental chefs to renegade artists. And if you want to mix it with the in crowd, the best place to stay is at the Ace Hotel. I love the vibe of this place, its designer furniture, the cute little accessories…there’s even a vintage record player in the corner, for when you want to go old school!

Breakfast: The Breakfast Club

2-4 Rufus Street, N1 6PE Hoxton, London

If you ask me, breakfast is one of England’s greatest contributions to Western civilization (second only to afternoon tea!). If you’re worried about the calories, or are you rapidly running out of holes in your belt, The Breakfast Club in Hoxton offers more than just the traditional fry up – you have to give their mueslis, porridge, fruit salads and smoothies a try!

Music Store: Rough Trade

91 Brick Lane, E1 6QL, London

When a small group of Londonites came up with the idea of turning the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane into a music store, people thought they were mad. But here it is! One of London's most celebrated, most awarded and most loved retail destinations (or one of mine in any case!). The curated stock of music is amazing. And if listening is not enough for you, there are hundreds of books and magazines about anything and everything connected with the music industry. But most of all, I come here for the experience.

Pub: The Owl & Pussycat

34 Redchurch Street, E2 7DP, London

One glimpse of the quirky interior and it’s clear that Edward Lear’s “nonsense” poem has inspired more than just the name of this very Shoreditch-esque pub. This place is often pumping after dark. But I enjoy coming here in the afternoon just to chill. Go find yourself a nice cozy corner amongst the exposed beams and wallow the time away. There’s also a beer garden, if that’s more your cup of tea.

Lunch: Timberyard

61-67 Old Street, EC1V 9HW, London

Would you like a serve of inspiration with that? There’s a reason I spend so much time hanging out here and it’s not just the fantabulously good tea and coffee. For this high-spec, ‘geek-chic’ café is as much a vibrant workspace as a cozy eatery, Timberyard is a top choice for informal, spontaneous or even coincidental meetings that might just spark something new.

Museum: V&A Museum

Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL, London

With over 4.5 million exhibitions in the permanent collection alone, nobody expects you to see everything at the V&A. But trust me, you’re going to wish you could! There’s a reason why this is the mecca for decorative arts and design. Take a walk through over 3,000 years of artifacts that cover the whole spectrum from the weird to the wonderful. If you only go to one museum while you’re in London, this would definitely be my pick.

Department Store: Selfridges

400 Oxford Street, W1A 1AB, London

Looking for a typically Londonesque retail experience? You can’t go wrong with Selfridges. And what better location than the flagship store right in the middle of London’s most famous shopping street. If you’re like me, you’ll be happy to window shop the latest designer collections. But don’t be surprised if you find more than the odd irresistible must-have.

Restaurant: Dishoom

12 Upper St Martin's Lane, WC2H 9FB, London

My favorite British national dish? Without a doubt, “chicken tikka masala!”. OK, I’m joking but you can’t deny that some of the very best food you can hope to try in London is in fact Indian. Dishoom brings not only the flavors of India to London but also the old-world charm of the original “Bombay cafés”. Once plentiful in the Indian capital but now a dying breed. Do all of your senses a favor and give it a try.

Nightlife: Market Place

11-13 Market Place, W1W 8AH, London

Eat, drink, dance...I can’t decide which part of this urban-chic bar and diner I like most. Fortunately, you don’t have to decide right away. Grab a fantastic meal at the street-level bar and then head downstairs for some of the best beats in town.
