Hear the ships’ horns blow from the nearby seaport, listen to the loud murmur from the local pubs at happy hour, smell the aroma coming from the kitchens of the city's hippest eateries and feel good in Hamburg! Local trend-seeker Anna Wegelin will show you the ropes and make you feel even more at home in this ancient mariner’s city!
Looking for a cool, urban, central, and affordable accommodation? You just got lucky! All 50 of Pyjama Park’s rooms are oozing with style, but each in their own unique way. For some real Hamburg flair, for instance, try the maritime “cabins” on Clepto’s Belle Etage. Best of all, there are free bubbles for the ladies every Friday night: just the ticket to kick-start the weekend!
No visit to Hamburg would be complete without a visit to the port. On the way, grab an awesome breakfast or even just one of the homemade cakes at Cafe Johanna. I could really recommend the blueberry cheesecake, it is just to die for! Vegetarians and vegans will also find plenty with which to tame their appetite.

- Saturday 10.00am-6.00pm
Did you know that Hamburg has more bridges inside its city limits than any other city in the world and even more canals than Amsterdam and Venice combined? We even have a water tunnel that goes beneath the Elbe, the Alter Elbtunnel. Grab your bike, start at Landungsbrücken and explore the other side of town.
Buying is so last season! At the Kleiderei you can actually borrow beautiful clothing instead of buying it. Pola and Thekla, the founders of Kleiderei just went online with their truly unique concept and moved to a new building with a showroom to step by on appointment. Online and at their showroom you will find stunning vintage pieces, big names like Jil Sander or collections of designers as Ethel Vaughn or Lala Berlin. National borrowing is on, fashion looking good and feeling fine.
- Showroom visiting on appointment .
Cafe Schmidt, nearby the famous Fischmarket, is a one of a kind Cafe with handmade sweets of the highest level. You’ll probably lose your mind after tasting one of their amazing cakes, served with a cup of tea. Don’t forget to grab a pack of anchor cookies for on the road.

After spending enough time in Hamburg’s biggest and grandest department store, you can almost witness fashion trends in the making. You’ll find everything either to create or complete the perfect look, including the latest Eastpak collection!

You could easily spend a whole day at Planten und Blomen and you still wouldn’t get bored. All 47 hectares of these old botanical gardens play host to some of the most amazing concerts and events ranging from music to theater and even water and light shows. But even in between the action, Hamburg’s most beautiful park is an ideal spot to lay down, take a deep breath and just enjoy the moment.
I go bananas for Monkey Deli, located in the cool area Karoviertel. And I can guarantee you will too after tasting their heavenly home-cooked food. It’s all vegan – although you wouldn’t have noticed if I didn’t tell you – and the place is super cozy. I’m here so often, I think the other customers must think I’m part of the décor ;-).
- Monday-Friday 12.00pm-5.00pm
- Saturday 10.00am-6.00pm
You want art? The Sammlung Falckenberg has it! Without a doubt my favorite art space in town. The collection boasts around 2,000 works of contemporary art with and emphasis on German and American artists from the past 30 years. If you’re looking for something more than the average museum has to offer, this place is sure to surprise you. - Only guided tours. - Pictures © Henning Rogge / Deichtorhallen Hamburg

If your version of paradise, like mine, is a tasty, juicy burger then salvation awaits you at The Burger Lab! Just make sure you keep your hands off my perfectly crisp, sweet-potato fries! Because some things in life are just too good to share! Even the vegan and vegetarian burgers will make you feel like you’ve died and gone to heaven! Enjoy!

Gängeviertel’s art, culture, and lecture series could pop up anywhere: in an art studio, an apartment building, or even a social project. This is a truly unique way to discover the real Hamburg from behind the scenes, with art as far as you can see and real people at every turn. Everyone welcome!
As the sunset fades in St.Pauli, the red lights start glowing… so if it’s a party you’re looking for, you might as well come straight to where the action is. There are clubs and bars all over the place here but a real hidden gem is the Clockers Bar on Paul-Roosen-Straße. Mixology on a very high level, they even make their own Clockers Gin. Wild nights are more or less guaranteed on this side of town!
- Monday-Thursday 7.00pm-1.00am
- Friday-Saturday 7.00pm-3.00am
Don’t tell my Dad, but I was 15 when I first went to the Golden Pudel. And 14 years later, this is still the place to party. It may be tiny but when it’s on, it’s on! No guest list, no nonsense, just some of the best artists in the world playing some seriously punk vibes from the turntables.
